Boo! School Demographics Update by Ashley Anderson
Halloween isn’t the only scary thing happening this season, schools are also preparing for October 1st enrollment counts, which determine district funding!

Since 2018, births in Salt Lake County have significantly declined. As births and student enrollment decrease, so does funding for the
resources schools, teachers, and programs need. As your School Board member, I continue to advocate strongly for tax reform that would ensure more of our property tax dollars stay in the classroom rather than be diverted to development. With ongoing reductions
anticipated, retaining every dollar is critical to doing good work for our kids.

If you are a parent in public schools, the best support you can offer the district and your student is regular attendance. Chronic absenteeism impacts student achievement, but also impacts school funding. Best of all, parents and caregivers can use the new Edia text system to monitor attendance and excuse any absences.
